Surface Guide

Check the finish before production use

Panels with the same base material can have very different top coatings. Follow the panel or coating supplier's care guidance and test the actual finish.

Test first

Lacquered MDF

Confirm adhesion, color and drying on the actual lacquer system.

Test first

Painted panels

Use only on a clean, dry surface and check scrap material or an inconspicuous area.

Compatibility unverified

PVC-coated panels

Coatings and textures vary. Follow the surface supplier's cleaning guidance, then test line quality, adhesion and drying.

Compatibility unverified

PET-coated panels

Do not infer adhesion from drying time. Test line quality, adhesion and drying as separate checks.

Compatibility unverified

Melamine & other coatings

Do not assume compatibility. Test the actual finish before production use.

Recommended production check

Suitable surfaces may include lacquered MDF, painted panels and some coated surfaces. The final result depends on the finish, preparation and drying conditions. Follow the surface supplier's care instructions; test any cleaning or application method on scrap material or an inconspicuous area first.

How to Use

Prepare, prime and test before application

The adjacent clip is an application demonstration. Follow all preparation steps below before working on a final panel.

  1. 01

    Prepare the groove

Remove dust and make sure the surface is clean and dry. Follow the panel or coating supplier's cleaning guidance.

  2. 02

    Shake with the cap on

Close the cap securely and shake the marker well for 15–20 seconds.

  3. 03

    Release pressure

Following the supplier's instructions, hold the tip upward and press it gently 2–3 times.

  4. 04

    Prime on scrap material

Turn the tip downward and press gently until it is evenly saturated. Avoid continuous pressing.

  5. 05

    Test, then apply

Test on the same material or a hidden area. Move smoothly along the groove without forcing the tip.

  6. 06

    Allow an initial wait

Leave the line undisturbed for 30–60 minutes before checking it. This is not a full-cure or scratch-resistance claim; timing varies with coating, paint thickness and environment.

  7. 07

    Recap after use

Close the cap tightly after use to help protect the marker tip.
